Dr Penny Simpson

Programme Director, Global Human Resource Management MSc

Penny is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management Education at King’s Business School. One of her roles is that of the CIPD Coordinator within the Department of Human Resource Management and Employment Relations. Previously a Principal Lecturer at the University of Brighton, she brings extensive industry experience to the course.

She has worked as a management consultant, manager, and HR/Organisational Development Manager for commercial organisations in both London and Sydney. In addition, Penny has achieved a Graduate Certificate of Change Management with the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM).

PhD in Management Studies, King's College London

Her thesis explored the nature and antecedents of customer service behaviours in a service organisation.


MSc in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management

  • She was a King’s Business School Dean’s Award nominee for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Education’ and was also nominated by students for a King’s Business School Education Award 
  • Prior to joining King’s full-time, Penny was an award-winning lecturer at the University of Brighton, where she led the Human Resource Management MSc. 
  • Highly Commended in the Postgraduate Support Award in the Brighton Student Union Teaching and Learning Excellence Awards and a University of Brighton Excellence in Facilitating/Empowering Learning Award winner.
