Dr Rob Gallagher
Programme Director, Digital Futures MA | Lecturer in Games and Immersive Media
Rob’s research explores the terms on which popular digital forms and genres - from videogames, memes and animated gifs to ASMR videos and grime music – serve as vehicles for artistic, personal and political expression.
Alongside his published work Rob has undertaken creative collaborations with artists, musicians, content creators and fellow researchers resulting in installations, performances and podcasts. He has previously held research and teaching positions at Concordia University, Royal Holloway, the University of East Anglia and Manchester Metropolitan University.
While at the University of East Anglia Rob co-hosted Reactionary Digital Politics, an eight-part podcast addressing the impact of digital platforms on political thought and expression.
