Changes to programme delivery

At King’s College London, we regularly review our programmes to ensure they continue to deliver an outstanding, student-centred learning experience. As part of this ongoing commitment – and in response to student feedback – the International Financial & Commercial Law LLM will transition to a 3 x 10-week term structure.

What this means for you

From September 2026, the programme will be delivered in longer teaching terms designed to enhance your academic experience:

  • Prolonged academic engagement: Each 10-week term provides increased opportunity to dive deeply into your studies, supporting thoughtful reflection on your learning while allowing you to balance broader commitments.
  • Rich collaboration: Extended teaching periods enable meaningful peer interactions, supporting group work and networking opportunities. You’ll have more time to form connections with both fellow students and academic staff.
  • Consistent academic experience: Adopting a 10-week term structure aligns our online programmes with King’s standard academic calendar, ensuring consistency in how teaching, assessment, and student support are delivered.

Your programme journey

If you begin your studies in the 2025/26 academic year, you will start the programme under the current 6-week block model.

In September 2026, you will transition to the new 10-week term format, allowing you to benefit from the enhanced learning experience outlined above. This phased approach is designed to ensure a smooth and supportive progression through your programme.

Additional flexibility during the transition

To support your continued progress during this period of change, we have introduced a number of flexible study options:

  1. Accelerated delivery: Additional modules will be offered during the 2026/27 academic year, enabling you to take certain taught modules during periods where a scheduling gap may otherwise have occurred.
  2. Self-study option: You may choose to self-study an existing version of any module, with alternative assessments provided for assessed forums.
  3. Doubling up: Between January 2026 and August 2026 only, you may opt to study two modules concurrently where modules are already scheduled as part of the 2025/26 carousel. Assessment deadlines will be adjusted to ensure you have sufficient time to complete each piece of work.

Our commitment to you

The change in teaching delivery reflects King’s ongoing commitment to providing a high-quality, student-centred online education. By building on a strong foundation and enhancing how teaching is structured, we aim to provide an enriching and supportive learning experience throughout your studies.
